Wolverhampton Schools - Engineering Diploma
22/04/10 16:48
On the 22/23 April the Trust and RAF Shawbury held the fourth Diploma Residential since the first took place in February 2009. We have introduced a new wire locking activity which involves the students using a wire locking training rig used by students at DCAE Cosford and we have a new maintenance activity that allows the students to get to grips with some basic riveting tasks on plates of aluminum. All of the students were fantastic and managed to achieve all tasks that were presented to them. As always a big thank you to Chief Tech Nick Bowles, WOII Ed Gibson, CPO Mark Corcoran, Sqn Ldr Neil Hope and Flt Lt Kev Place.

Above is WOII Ed Gibson teaching a student wire-locking and below is CPO Mark Corcoran discussing riveting techniques with a student.

Below: Training rig with the lid closed which presents a realistic challenge for the student!

Below: Gazelle Workshop – The students get a chance to experience aircraft handling as well as being taught how to conduct a rotor change.
